Breeze Airways Expands West Coast Footprint with New Redmond Flights Amid Avelo Exit

Breeze Airways Expands West Coast Footprint with New Redmond Flights Amid Avelo Exit | Mr. Business Magazine

Breeze Airways is set to begin operations at Redmond–Bend Airport (Roberts Field) starting March 13, 2026, introducing nonstop flights to Burbank–Hollywood and Las Vegas, along with one-stop “BreezeThru” service to Provo–Salt Lake City. The announcement marks a significant step for Central Oregon’s air travel connectivity.

Flights to Burbank and Las Vegas will operate on Mondays and Fridays, with introductory one-way fares starting at $49, offering travelers affordable, convenient access to key West Coast destinations. All flights will be served by the Airbus A220, featuring in-seat power, Wi-Fi, and a choice of three seating classes, including the premium “Nicest” option.

CEO David Neeleman emphasized Breeze’s mission to serve underserved markets, calling Central Oregon a perfect match. Airport Director Zachary Bass welcomed the new routes, noting that it enhances travel flexibility and strengthens Redmond’s position as a regional aviation hub.

Broader Expansion Across the West Coast

The Redmond launch is part of Breeze Airways broader West Coast expansion strategy in 2026, with new services also introduced in Arcata–Eureka, Eugene, Pasco/Tri‑Cities, and Burbank. The Burbank hub will serve as a connection point for multiple BreezeThru routes, including to Provo and Redmond.

This strategic growth comes on the heels of two consecutive profitable quarters for Breeze. The airline has also been named among Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2025 and ranked #3 on Travel + Leisure’s Best Domestic Airlines list, a notable achievement for a relatively new carrier. Breeze’s model offering affordable fares without compromising passenger comfort is proving successful in tapping into regional markets typically overlooked by larger airlines.

Avelo Airlines Retreats from the West Coast

Breeze Airways announcement comes at a pivotal moment as competitor Avelo Airlines prepares to cease operations from Hollywood Burbank Airport by the end of 2025, effectively exiting the West Coast market. Avelo’s decision, driven by financial headwinds and shifting strategy, opens a gap in service across several cities including Redmond and Burbank.

Breeze Airways appears poised to fill this void, offering seamless connections and consistent service to markets previously served by Avelo. For Redmond travelers, the shift signals more options, better prices, and enhanced accessibility to key destinations at a time when West Coast aviation is undergoing major realignment.
