Sony has officially announced the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for August 2025, and the lineup is turning heads across the gaming community. Starting August 5, subscribers will be able to download and play Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 at no additional cost. The selection will remain available until September 1, giving players nearly four weeks to claim this genre-diverse bundle.
Coinciding with PlayStation Plus’s 15th anniversary, Sony is also giving away a themed avatar pack. This bonus includes visuals from popular franchises such as Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, Twisted Metal, and Hogwarts Legacy, available exclusively to PS Plus subscribers.
Gaming outlets like IGN and Video Games Chronicle are already calling this one of the strongest PS Plus months of the year—largely thanks to the headline title Lies of P.
Game Breakdown: A Trio Worth Your Bandwidth
- Lies of P (PS4 & PS5)
A gothic soulslike inspired by Pinocchio, this game blends twisted fairy tale lore with brutal, strategic combat. Players explore the plague-ridden city of Krat, using customizable Legion Arms to battle mechanical horrors. Critics have praised its artistic design, moral complexity, and refined gameplay loop, making it a significant win for PlayStation Plus (Polygon).
- DayZ (PS4, playable on PS5)
For those who prefer raw survival, DayZ offers a hardcore multiplayer experience. Set in a vast post-Soviet wasteland teeming with zombies and hostile players, it requires strategic resource management, teamwork—or betrayal—to stay alive. The stakes are high: death means starting over.
- My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4, playable on PS5)
Fans of My Hero Academia will find this anime arena fighter both flashy and fun. With a massive roster of heroes and villains, players unleash signature Quirks in dynamic, destructible environments. It’s accessible for casual fans yet layered enough for competitive fighters.
Access, Extras, and What’s Next
These titles are part of the PlayStation Plus Essential tier, which includes monthly games, cloud saves, and online multiplayer. The tier is priced at $9.99/month, $24.99/quarter, or $79.99/year. Subscribers to Extra and Premium tiers also gain access to these games, along with expanded libraries and streaming options.
Last month’s lineup—Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant—will remain available until August 4, after which they will rotate out. Users are advised to claim them before the deadline to retain access while subscribed.
With this August lineup, Sony not only celebrates 15 years of PlayStation Plus but sets a high bar for monthly offerings going forward. Whether you’re into grim fairy tales, survival tension, or explosive anime battles, August has something worth downloading.
