OnePlus has officially unveiled its OnePlus 12 during a special event in China, coinciding with the celebration of the company’s tenth anniversary. Representing one of the most impressive additions to the smartphone market, the OnePlus 12 boasts cutting-edge features, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a generous 24 GB RAM, and a capacious 1 TB storage option.
Display Features:
Noteworthy among the device’s features is the reintroduction of wireless charging, a feature omitted in the previous OnePlus 11 model. Additionally, OnePlus has equipped its flagship with an IP65 rating, providing protection against dust and water jets. The front of the phone showcases a stunning 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168 pixels, supporting a dynamic 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. The BOE-manufactured panel promises an impressive peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits for HDR content and 1,600 nits for regular use. Other display features include a 2,160Hz PWM dimming feature and top-tier blue light filtering.
Turning to the rear, the OnePlus 12 features a Hasselblad-branded camera setup, led by a 50 MP main shooter with Sony’s advanced dual-layer stacked Lytia 808 sensor. This sensor, also found in the OnePlus Open, boasts 1.12µm pixels and an f/1.7 lens with OIS. Accompanying this main camera is a 64 MP telephoto module with 3x optical zoom and up to 6x lossless magnification via in-sensor zoom, as well as a 48 MP ultrawide camera with an IMX581 sensor.
50W wireless charging Scenes:
Running on ColorOS 14.0, based on Android 14 in China (expected to be OxygenOS 14 internationally), the OnePlus 12 packs a robust 5,400 mAh dual-cell battery, marking the largest battery capacity seen in a OnePlus device to date. Notably, the device supports up to 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging, in addition to 100W wired charging. Connectivity features include support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 standards, an IR blaster, and a USB Type-C 3.2 connector for faster-wired transfer speeds.
The OnePlus 12 is available in black, emerald green, and white color options. In China, prices start at CNY 4,299 ($607) for the 12/256GB model, reaching up to CNY 5,799 ($818) for the variant with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. Pre-orders have commenced in China, with open sales scheduled to start on December 11. However, the global launch for the OnePlus 12 is expected to take place in January 2024, with an official date yet to be confirmed by the company.
