We encountered many fearsome warriors in our conflict, among them a business by the name of ChromaWay. ChromaWay offers a platform for blockchain-based asset issuance and transfer as well as smart contracts. ChromaWay has been developing smart contract solutions for the real estate industry in collaboration with the Swedish Land Registry and other organisations and financial firms.

During a discussion with ChromaWay Chief Solutions Officer Zara Zamani. Let’s learn more about her business, its offerings, and her career path. 

Tell us about the business; what motivated you to found it? 

With our relational blockchain technology, termed Postchain, ChromaWay was established in 2014. Postchain has shown to be a great platform for private corporate blockchain applications. 

The company’s personnel and overall vision have expanded dramatically since then. In addition to our work with ChromaWay, a private firm, we have also introduced Chromia, a public platform with a rapidly growing ecosystem.  

By offering transparent solutions that increase efficiency and decrease exploitation, we work to provide blockchain applications that are simple to use and add genuine value to society.  

What are the goods and services that ChromaWay specialises in? How do your services differ from those offered by competitors? 

Our open blockchain protocol is called Chromia. Our platform’s unique selling point is how it blends relational database flexibility and data handling capabilities with blockchain security. The bulk of blockchains currently in use are relatively inefficient when it comes to data handling and storage, making them incompatible with most large-scale applications (online banking, social media, etc.) that heavily rely on databases.  

Additionally, we employ a ground-breaking consensus architecture that does away with mining and significantly lowers the energy requirements and environmental impact of our blockchain.  

Additionally, we will shortly introduce Originals, our NFT protocol that stands out from many others by being dynamic, mutable, attachable, and practically gas-fee-free. 

Tell us a little bit about your team. 

Over 150 people from all over the world make up the global and diverse ChromaWay team, which was founded by a small group of individuals. On the team, we represent more than 20 different countries and speak more than 30 different languages.  

Tell us a little bit about your professional background.  

My work experience, however, is not that different from many other people who have had successful careers. Focus, hard labour, learning to do smart work, and then working smart but hard are all important. I am a former engineer who now leads. I began working in the oil and gas sector as a dedicated field engineer. 

My work in the oil and gas business has equipped me with the skills necessary to interact effectively with a wide range of people who have different backgrounds, professions, levels of education, cultures, genders, and linguistic abilities. Since it was a very male-dominated industry, it also helped me become more tough. 

After a few years, though, I began to feel alone and unable to relate to the direction I wanted to go in life—to affect change and contribute to making the world a better place. In 2015, I transitioned to the internet sector, started a travel tech firm that ultimately became a fintech company, and immersed myself in the entire financial industry. 

I currently serve as Chief Solutions Officer at ChromaWay and am a blockchain solution architect. I’ve had the opportunity of working with the brightest minds and designing blockchain solutions for a variety of sectors. I also teach and conduct research on the use of blockchain technology at Halmstad University in South Sweden. 

What major accomplishments have you made in your business life? 

My greatest accomplishment is the self-assurance and faith I now have that I am on the correct road. In addition, I am a strong, independent, and empowered mother who is raising such a daughter. 

In addition, I was named one of the top 10 significant women in technology by AnalyticsInsight in 2021 and one of the 21 women in blockchain you should know by FintechReview in 2021. In 2019, I was also one of the top 50 most powerful women on LinkedIn.  

Any noteworthy projects you would like to mention? 

The debut of a blockchain-based game and My Neighbour Alice are two fascinating ventures I can mention. The idea for My Neighbour Alice first emerged in 2020, and the ALICE coin debuted on Binance in March of that same year. 

‘Animal Crossing’-style open-world multiplayer building games were intended to be the focus of the game. The project’s objective has been to create a play-to-earn blockchain game that attracts casual players by focusing on a streamlined user interface and mobile connectivity. 

Since 2021, there has been continuous development, and the first alpha season release is anticipated for Q2 of this year. Following an aggressive growth of the development and operations teams, a new roadmap has just been released, and we are thrilled to be making rapid progress towards producing a blockchain game that can appeal to both crypto and non-crypto users. 

Which quotation is your favourite? 

Though I have a lot of favourites, one that I usually repeat to myself is “technology is as good as us, humans.”  

Therefore, if we want a better world, we must employ technology for improvement, albeit this is not always the case because everyone’s ultimate purpose is not necessarily improvement.
